We Say No To Landfill Art Competition

Melkbos Ateljee (Competition For Ages 10 -16)

27 December 2024 - 31 January 2025

Prize Giving: 01 February 2025

A hazardous waste processing facility is set to be built approximately 2km from Duynefontein. Atlantis, Melkbosstrand, and other nearby locations could be affected. This facility may potentially process hazardous waste from around the world, and the impact on the area could be devastating.

In collaboration with Melkbos Together and in solidarity with SAY NO TO WESCO, the Melkbos Ateljee WE SAY NO TO LANDFILL Art Competition intends to provide a necessary platform for our future generation to voice their opinions and concerns, by encouraging public engagement and increased awareness of the planned intention to establish the WESCO Hazardous Waste Possessing Plant on the outskirts of Melkbosstrand. The competition aims to provide voice and agency to our youth so that they can be heard and participate in action that will preserve the health and well-being of our community, both now and in the future.
