OPEN CALL FOR ARTWORKS: My Digital Print
Hosted by Visual Narratives and Creative Outputs (ViNCO), North-West University
Parys, Free State & NWU Campus Libraries
16 – 20 September 2024
The research niche, Visual Narratives and Creative Outputs (ViNCO), North-West University invites emerging artists to submit original artworks for the My digital Print interactive art installation. The theme of the exhibition hopes to spark conversation about the role of artists in the digital era, how they engage the virtual world, particularly with the rise of AI-generated art. Artists are invited to creatively reflect on their digital lives, their digital footprint or on the imprint of digital technology on their lives, in postcard format.
The selected artworks will reflect the artists’ varied backgrounds in our culturally diverse country and their response to the challenges and opportunities that they encounter in navigating of the virtual world. We welcome submissions by young and early-career visual artists, working in traditional or mixed media, as well as digital media. The artworks will be showcased in Parys, Free State, during the NWU’s Faculty of Humanities Spring Week and on NWU campuses, thereafter, allowing for engagement with the artworks in a number of spaces with wide range of viewers.
Submissions open 17 June 2024 and close 16 August 2024.
